What should I do if my child is absent from school?

Because school attendance is very important to us at Westview, here is the policy on reporting student absences.

Please call us by 9:00 a.m. the day of their absence. You may leave a message on our voice mail if you call before 7:45 a.m. Be sure to state who you are, the reason your student is absent, and give a phone number where you can be reached.

Send a note to school with another student on the day of their absence.

Let us know ahead of time by phone call or note in the case of a planned absence.

What should I do if my child needs to leave school early?

Please send a note to school that morning. All students who leave school during the day must do so by signing out at the office. Parents who come to get students must report to the office. The student will be called to the office from the classroom. If the parent is sending someone other than the legal guardian to pick up a student, please notify the office by phone or note before hand. The student must be signed out before leaving Westview Elementary. If the student returns to school the same day, they must sign back in at the office.

What should I do if my child needs to change his/her regular pattern of going home?

You must send a note with your child that morning stating where you want them to go. The note gets sent to the office and then returned to the child (with the principal’s signature) to give to the bus driver. While this may be inconvenient, please know that we take responsibility for your child’s safety very seriously.

If I need to visit the school for any reason, where do I report?

If you are coming in to visit for any reason, you must stop at the office to sign in and receive your visitor’s pass. Enter at the west door. Thank you in advance for your compliance with this important safety rule.
