Transportation Info Needed! As we start working on routes for the 2026-27 school year, we need to know if there are changes from you! REMEMBER! You all received a letter at the end of the school year with transportation updates for the 2026-27 school year! You are allowed an AM pick-up and a PM drop-off this year. Students will not be permitted to ride a different bus in the morning or get off at a different stop in the PM other than their designated AM and PM stop.
What we need to know:
- If your child needs to be picked up or dropped off at a different location from last year.
- If your child switched daycare
- If your child did not ride the bus last year, but needs to this year
- If your child does not need the bus to stop at your house at all this year to pick your child up or to drop your child off

Something exciting is coming to LaGrange County...

On Tuesday, July 21 at 6:00 PM, Lakeland School Corporation, Westview School Corporation, and Prairie Heights Community Schools will celebrate the launch of the Learn to Work Program, a first-of-its-kind partnership with local manufacturers and community organizations. Together, we're creating new opportunities for students while helping meet the workforce needs of our region.

The Learn to Work Program prepares students for careers in manufacturing and industrial electrical maintenance through hands-on learning, industry partnerships, dual credit opportunities, and industry-recognized credentials. Students will gain real-world experience while developing the skills needed for high-demand careers right here in LaGrange County.

Join us at Lakeland Intermediate School for our Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to tour the new facility, explore the equipment, meet our education and industry partners, and learn more about the opportunities this program will provide for students across the county.

Whether you're a student, parent, educator, business partner, or community member, we'd love to have you join us as we celebrate this exciting milestone.

LWP Invitation
Dear Westview Families,
As we prepare to welcome students back for another outstanding school year, I want to share an important update regarding a new Indiana law that will impact all students beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.

To comply with this new state law, Westview School Corporation will implement a bell-to-bell personal device expectation. From the start of the school day until dismissal, students' personal wireless devices must be powered off, stored away, and inaccessible throughout the instructional day. This expectation is designed to reduce distractions, increase student engagement, and promote meaningful interactions among students and staff.

This expectation applies to all personal electronic devices, including:
*Cell phones
*Smartwatches
*Tablets
*Gaming devices
*Any other personal communication or internet-capable device

One of the most significant changes is that personal devices will no longer be permitted during lunch or passing periods. Please note that this expectation applies only to personal devices and does not include school-issued technology that students use for learning in their classrooms.

Attached to this letter is a graphic that outlines the new bell-to-bell personal device expectations. We encourage you to review it with your child before the start of school. The graphic provides a clear overview of how this new law will be implemented at Westview and answers many of the common questions families may have.

If you need to communicate with your child during the school day, we ask that you contact your child's school office. Our staff will ensure that important messages are delivered promptly. Likewise, if a student needs to contact a parent or guardian during the school day, they may do so through the school office.

As required by Indiana law, exceptions will be made for students whose personal devices are needed for documented medical purposes, safety concerns, translation services, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, or other administrator-approved needs.

Over the past several years, schools across Indiana have seen the positive impact of limiting personal device use during the school day. Students report fewer distractions, stronger relationships with classmates and teachers, and greater engagement in classroom learning. We are confident that these new expectations will further support a safe, focused, and positive learning environment for every Westview student.

Our building administrators and staff have worked together to ensure these expectations are implemented consistently across all Westview schools. Additional building-specific procedures and reminders will be shared with families prior to the first day of school.

Your partnership plays a vital role in the success of this initiative. We appreciate your support in discussing these expectations with your child before school begins. By working together, we can create classrooms where students are fully engaged, connected with one another, and focused on learning.

Thank you for your continued support of Westview School Corporation. We look forward to an exceptional 2026-2027 school year and appreciate your partnership as we continue our tradition of excellence.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jaime Carroll

Poster titled “Indiana Personal Device Law — Senate Bill 78 (2026–27)” in a red, gold, and white theme with a spearhead graphic at top-left and a gold/red “W” logo with a spear at bottom-right. A horizontal timeline from “Start of School” to “End of School” shows five red “no” icons for tablet, smartphone, wireless earbuds, smartwatch, and handheld game controller. A “Myths vs. Facts” section explains this is a state law requiring districts to adopt device restrictions (not a school-only rule), students may bring devices but cannot access them during the school day, “bell-to-bell” means the entire day, and parents should contact the school office to reach their child. The infographic lists reasons for the change—better academic focus, fewer behavior problems, improved mental wellness, consistent expectations, and more face-to-face interaction—and notes limited exceptions for medical needs, IEP/504, translation, safety, and administrator-approved purposes. Ends with the goal: creating focused, engaging classrooms.

This week Dr. Carroll and Mrs. Stout had the honor of visiting classrooms across Westview and personally presenting special recognition awards to six outstanding 3rd grade students who were recognized as National Math Stars through the Indiana Department of Education partnership program. These students were identified based on their exceptional performance and high achievement on the iLEARN Math Checkpoint assessment, which recognizes students demonstrating advanced mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills at an early age. It was truly exciting to celebrate these students alongside their classmates and teachers and recognize the hard work, perseverance, and academic excellence they have demonstrated. We are incredibly proud of these students for their dedication to learning, and we also want to recognize our teachers for the strong instructional foundation they continue to provide for our students each day. Congratulations to our National Math Stars honorees: Shipshewana-Scott Elementary • Archer Glassman • Nolan Lambright Meadowview Elementary • Glen Bontrager • Leah Mast Topeka Elementary • Kyra Geigley • Timothy Schlabach

Today, we held our first-ever Superintendent Student Voice Roundtable at Westview! ♥️🎤💛 We had 30 incredible students representing grades 4–12 come together to share their perspectives. Students had the opportunity to talk about what they love most about their schools, what makes them proud, and where they see opportunities for growth. Most importantly, student voices were truly heard today. Their insights were thoughtful, honest, and incredibly valuable as we continue to grow together as a district. We are so proud of our students for the way they represented themselves and their schools! They did an amazing job! #WarriorWay #StudentVoice #ExcellenceIsOurTradition
