Skyler (Carpenter) Jacobs to be Inducted Into the Indiana Hall  of Fame

Alumna Skyler (Carpenter) Jacobs will be inducted into the Indiana Track & Field State Hall of Fame this June.

During her time at Westview, Skyler earned eight school records, numerous sectional and regional records, and seven individual State Championship titles in the long jump (2), 100m hurdles (2) and 300m hurdles(3). In her final state meet performance, Carpenter was awarded the Mental Attitude Award, given to student athletes for excellence in attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability. Carpenter was also awarded Indiana’s Gatorade Player of the Year Award and nominated for Wendy’s High School Heisman National award during her final track & field season.

Skyler went on to receive a full athletic scholarship to Vanderbilt University where she double majored in Medicine, Health & Society and Child Development. During her time there, Skyler was awarded the United States Track and Field Coaches Association Academic All- American award and also put her place on the university’s record books while competing in the school's 4 x 400 meter relay team, the 800m run and her specialty, the 400m hurdles.

Skyler went on to receive a Masters in Nurse Midwifery at the Vanderbilt School of Nursing and now works as a Certified Nurse Midwife in Atlanta, Ga.  Skyler is married to Carson Jacobs.
