The Westview community is mourning the loss of our 13-year-old eighth grader Lybie Miller who died this past Friday (9/16) in a car accident after school involving three other WJSH students.

Lybie enjoyed reading, coloring and cooking as well as spending time with her family.

Lybie was brave, incredibly bright, strong-willed, and respectful- she flourished in my classroom. I had her seventh period, and she was always one to stay on task when most were ready to leave; she loved learning, reading, and being in the classroom with her friends. She often came in early ready to tell me a story about her brother from the night before, to tell me her plans for the evening, or even to simply check in on me. This loss is deeply felt by her friends and teachers, and our hearts go out to the Miller family in this difficult time. M. Hershberger (8th grade /Language Arts teacher)

I have had the privilege of getting to know Lybie the past two years in class. She always had a smile on her face and was always kind to those around her. I will greatly miss that beautiful girl and her smile. M. Bontrager (8th grade/ P.E Teacher)

We are honored that Lybie was part of the Westview community and we will greatly miss her. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Miller family as they cope with this unimaginable loss. Please continue to keep the rest of the students and their families involved in the accident in your thoughts and prayers.

Counselors and community pastors were available in the building for grief counseling and will be available for students and staff throughout the week.
