Our final ⭐ All Star Spotlight ⭐ of the year goes to Kara Short!
Mrs. Short has been a dedicated 3rd grade teacher at SES for 11 years, and she was once a student at this very school herself!
She truly shines with her creativity. She is always finding fresh, effective ways to manage her classroom while making learning fun and engaging. Mrs. Short isn’t afraid to get a little silly (goose) to bring joy to her students’ day, and it’s clear that teaching is more than just a job to her—it’s her passion!
Thank you, Mrs. Short, for the energy, heart, and dedication you bring every single day. We’re so lucky to have you! 💫

They also had the opportunity to hike the Continental Divide trail, where they saw buffalo, old Studebaker cars, and even some dinosaur fossils. They ended the day eating lunch and playing at Howard Park!

Please be advised that there will be no school for Westview students on Thursday, May 14. This date is designated as a Professional Development Day, allowing our faculty and staff to engage in essential training and collaborative planning.
Regularly scheduled classes will resume on Friday, May 15. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation.

A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for all the time, effort, creativity, and generosity they poured into making our staff feel so loved and appreciated all week long. From treats and surprises to thoughtful gifts, every detail meant so much to us!
We also want to give special shout-outs to some wonderful local businesses for supporting our staff with donations and gifts:
🥨 JoJo’s Pretzels
☕ Kitchen Cupboard
💪 The Studio in Middlebury
💇♀️The Salon FOUR
Your kindness and support help make our school community so special!
And of course… we had an absolute blast participating in the Survivor game Mrs. Garber planned and organized throughout the week! The friendly competition, surprises, and laughs made the week even more memorable.
We are so thankful for a community that supports and celebrates our staff so well! ❤️

Whether it’s helping with a nosebleed, caring for a sick child, or handing out an ice pack to soothe tears, Nurse Swanson does it all with kindness, patience, and a wonderful attitude every single day. She is such an important part of our school, and our students are so lucky to have someone who cares for them so well.
Thank you, Nurse Swanson, for all that you do for our students and staff. We appreciate you more than words can say! 🩺✨

Students who read 10 books through our Read for Red & Gold program (partnered with the South Bend Cubs) earned a special trip to the game last Friday! What an unforgettable experience! The students got to walk out onto the field, meet the mascot, and collect some autographs! Our school was even recognized during the game.
We are so proud of these readers for their hard work and dedication. Way to go, 4th graders!❤️💛

They were treated to an entertaining performance by magician Jim Barron, who kept everyone laughing and amazed. Many of our students also had the opportunity to enjoy performances by Westview’s talented jazz band and choir!
We love being part of a community that celebrates together. Our small town’s annual traditions make memories our students will never forget! 💙

We are lucky to have such a strong, and compassionate leader here at SES. Mrs. Garber is an expert at showing our students that school can be a fun and safe place to learn and grow, as well as holding clear and meaningful expectations. She makes our staff feel supported, confident, and valued. Today we showed our appreciation after school with some cheering and special gifts!
Mrs. Garber, thank you for everything you do for our students and staff. You are appreciated today and every day!!

Mrs. Metzler has our 4th graders working hard as they learn to play the recorder. They are building new skills while having a blast! From the classic "Hot Cross Buns" to rocking out with "Eye of the Tiger", there’s never a dull moment in music class!
