⛺️📚 Camp vibes at school!
Our 2nd graders enjoyed Camp-Read-A-Lot while kindergarten had their own camping days! Students made tents to work under, read books with flashlights, and even gathered around pretend campfires.🔥
We love making learning fun—and let’s be honest, we’ll take any excuse to wear our pajamas! 😄

Last week!

The birthday coupons we give to students for Fawn River are only valid at the Shipshewana location.
A big thank you to Fawn River for supporting our students in such a fun and generous way! 💙

Last week, our students collected over 1,000 boxes of cereal to donate to local food pantries! To celebrate, we lined the hallways with all the boxes and created an epic cereal box domino run that the students got to watch topple in action — it was amazing!
A huge thank you to all the parents and students who donated and helped make a difference in our community. What a fun and meaningful way to give back! 💛👏

This week we’re celebrating Mrs. Lacey Troxel, who has been teaching kindergarten at Shipshewana-Scott for an incredible 19 years! Lacey is known for making learning fun and engaging — her students absolutely love being in her class. She’s full of creative ideas and is always up for a good dress-up day!
Thank you, Mrs. Troxel, for all the joy, energy, and heart you bring to our school every day. 💛👏

Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a great event — we’re already looking forward to the next one! 💫💙

Our school is collecting unopened cereal boxes to donate to two local food pantries — and we’re turning it into a fun competition! Each class is racing to collect the most boxes, and the winning class will earn a class party! 🎉
Before we donate, we’ll be using all the boxes to build a huge cereal box domino maze for students to watch topple over — it’s going to be epic! 🙌
Let’s make a difference and have some fun doing it! 💛
Keep those cereal boxes coming in! 🥣

Our 2nd graders wrapped up their Greek Civilization unit with a fun and creative twist — the Potato Olympics! Students designed their very own potato athletes and competed in events like gymnastics, dance, long jump, and distance rolling. 🏃♀️💃
It was an exciting way to bring history to life! The students learned so much about ancient Greece while having a blast cheering on their spud-tacular athletes! 🥔🎉

This week, we’re celebrating Mrs. Mallory Berkey! Mallory has been part of the Shipshe-Scott family for 14 years, and this year she made the exciting transition from 1st grade teacher to Interventionist.
Mallory is an incredible educator — knowledgeable, friendly, easy to work with, and someone who truly cares about her students. Her dedication and positive energy shine in everything she does. Outside the classroom, Mallory loves to travel and has explored 4 of the 7 continents (how amazing is that?!).
We’re so thankful to have Mallory as both a coworker and friend. Thank you for all you do, Mrs. Berkey! 💙✏️🌍

We are so thankful for our three amazing custodians who do countless jobs behind the scenes to keep our school running smoothly. They are hardworking, reliable, and always know just what to do. Our school wouldn’t be the same without them!

This week’s All-Star is Heidi Mast, our amazing 2nd grade teacher here at Shipshe-Scott! Heidi has been shaping young minds in our school for 20 years, and even grew up walking these same halls as a student herself. She is consistent, knowledgeable, and always a great friend and teammate. We are so thankful for her dedication, her heart for kids, and the positive impact she’s had on our school community. 💙
Thank you for everything you do, Mrs. Mast!
Our 1st graders wrapped up their unit on the human body in the best way possible—with Operation Day! 🩺✨ After learning all about the different body systems, students celebrated with hands-on “surgery” activities. From practicing their skills to exploring what they’ve learned, the day was full of excitement, laughter, and learning. What a fun way to end the unit!
