Students and Staff celebrated Read Across America Week during the first week of March with the theme "Pop Open a Good Book!" Topeka Elementary School first graders visited Maple Wood Nature Center on March 5th. During this time, they went into the woods to see how to tap a tree for sap, and they also went into the sugar shack to see how the sap is made into maple syrup. After learning about how to make maple syrup, each first grader received a sample of syrup to taste.
