Seven of Westview’s finest musicians traveled to North Central High School in Indianapolis yesterday, March 1, to represent their school at ISSMA State Instrumental Solo and Ensemble. They all performed with a high level of musicianship on some very difficult music. We are proud of you, Warriors!
Chris Terrones earned two gold medals (bass trombone solo, baritone solo). Kiana Mast, Audri Martin, and Kaleb Iddings earned gold medals (saxophone trio). Kiana Mast also earned a silver medal (tenor sax solo). Sage Mercer, Caedmon Gates, and Gavin Rainsberger earned gold medals (trumpet trio).
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the ISSMA Vocal State Solo and Ensemble in Indianapolis last weekend. Westview students performed extremely well. Jonathan Roth and Andreya Bergeron brought home gold with distinction; Asher Kennedy, Kaleb Iddings, and Emily Bontrager each earned gold; and Brina Williams and Janell Lambright achieved silver. Well done, Warriors!
Best of luck to the saxophone trio of Kiana Mast, Audri Martin and Kaleb Iddings as well as the trumpet trio of Sage Mercer, Gavin Rainsberger and Caedmon Gates who will be performing at the ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble in Indianapolis on March 1st. They will be joined by state qualifying soloists Kiana Mast and Chris Terrones, who qualified with two solos.

Congratulations to Jonathan Roth! Based on his Junior PSAT score, Jonathan has been named a National Merit Finalist! More than 1.3 million Juniors took the PSAT last school year, and Jonathan is among the top 15,000 students. Jonathan joins Westview graduate Kimberly Stutzman, who received the National Merit Finalist honor in 2014 - the only other student to have received this honor. This past October, Jonathan joined the ranks of semi-finalist and has recently been notified of his finalist status. Well done, Jonathan!
Parents of students currently in grades 6-8: Auditions for the upcoming High School Musical Junior will take place March 31 and April 1 from 3:30 - 6:00 pm. This audition is for those wishing to be on stage. Production crew forms will be available at a later date.
Auditions will be held in the choir room and will be open house style, so you may come at any time between 3:30 – 6 pm on those dates. Auditions will last about 10 minutes each. Forms can be picked up from Mr. Carter or Mrs. VonGunten and will also be available in the front office at Westview Jr-Sr High School and Westview Elementary School.

FFA Week is here and everyone can participate! We have dress up days and a giving project this week. We will start the week off in red, white, and blue, and the Paws for a Cause will be open for donations all week. The items most in need are towels, blankets, dog food, cat food, new toys, paper towels, cleaners, and disinfecting wipes.

The 7th/8th grade Parent and Student meeting regarding the new Indiana graduation and diploma requirements originally scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 19th, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
Also on Saturday, February 8, all 6 band ensembles received gold medals at the ISSMA District Contest. Ensembles included a mixed woodwind trio of Faith Stump, Valentina Mendoza and Destiny Mercer; percussion trio of Luke Hall, Josie Eash and Emily Bontrager; saxophone trio of Lexi Warren, Jonathan Roth and Paige McDonald; saxophone trio of Kiana Mast, Audri Martin and Kaleb Iddings; trombone quartet of Evan Roth, Logan Miller, Noah Cleveland and Carter Cranor; trumpet trio of Sage Mercer, Gavin Rainsberger and Caedmon Gates.
