Next for our staff spotlight, our irreplaceable secretary, Mrs. McCoy!

Come join our team next year!

Last Friday for Fun Friday, it was 'Anything but a Bag' Day! We saw tons of creative ideas to carry our supplies to and from school. Suitcases were a popular choice!

As the year winds down, we wanted to celebrate and highlight some of our amazing staff members here at Topeka! Kicking off our series is our awesome principal, Mrs. Alissa McDonald!

4th graders had a successful donut sale! They sold over 493 boxes of donut holes and 372 boxes of dozen donuts! Congratulations to our top three sellers: Allen Childers with 117 total, Raylan LaForce with 65 total and Alyse Bontrager with 50 total! 4th grade teachers also held a random drawing of students who sold over 10 boxes . These winners were Ben Schlabach, Xavier Miller, Sean Williams, Jadynne Russell, and Melissa Miller.

Topeka Bears also got to celebrate two of our 4th graders who won the annual flag writing contest in LaGrange County! Ben Schlabach won for our local post and Melissa Miller won for our whole regional district! We are so proud of these two and all of the 4th graders who worked hard on their writing this year

Topeka celebrated the conclusion of Quarter 3 by honoring students selected by their teachers for 'Marvelous Mathematician' 'Radical Readers' 'Pawsitive Person' and 'Lab Leaders.' 4th graders also helped Mrs. McDonald solve a riddle to celebrate our bucket fillers this school year!

Topeka Bears celebrated Twin Day yesterday.. we were seeing double all day!

Just a reminder: there is no school for Westview Schools on Friday, March 14th. We hope all our students enjoy the three-day weekend. We will see you all again on Monday, March 17th.

Topeka celebrated the first 'Fun Friday' in March by participating in monochromatic day! Students wore one color from top to bottom.. black was a favorite!

Students and Staff celebrated Read Across America Week during the first week of March with the theme "Pop Open a Good Book!" The students enjoyed having a surprise guest reader visit their classrooms and read on of their favorite books. Students were treated with popcorn on Friday to end their week and to celebrate all of the reading that took place. At TES, students are encouraged to find books that they love and to become lifelong readers!

Topeka Elementary School first graders visited Maple Wood Nature Center on March 5th. During this time, they went into the woods to see how to tap a tree for sap, and they also went into the sugar shack to see how the sap is made into maple syrup. After learning about how to make maple syrup, each first grader received a sample of syrup to taste.

Congratulations to these Topeka Bears for displaying our final life skill of 'sportsmanship' here at school!
Even though this is our last official 'award' for life skills, Mrs. McDonald encouraged students to focus on displaying a new life skill each week... we look forward to seeing it!
