On November 24, 2024, Westview Junior High principal Mr. Rojas accepted Indiana’s District 3 Distinguished Principal of the Year award in Indianapolis.
Mr. Rojas graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Ball State University. He is a proud member of the Indiana Association of School Principals and actively participates in local community initiatives, including the Future Ligonier Alliance, which aims to revitalize the downtown area and boost local business growth.
Mr. Rojas was recognized as a 2015 “Emerging Star” by Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly, and he is committed to professional growth and leadership development, frequently exploring and consuming literature and podcasts on these subjects. He values the importance of mentorship and aims to inspire both students and staff to reach their full potential.


The weather has finally turned cold, and we would like to extend our gratitude to CJ's Garage for sponsoring our coffee for November. Nineteen students at Westview Jr-Sr High School have been recognized by the College Board with National Honors. To be eligible for a National Honors award, students in each category must earn a GPA of 3.33 or higher and have PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 assessment scores that are within the top 10% of assessment takers in each state for each award program or earned a score of 3 or higher on 2 or more AP exams by the end of 10th grade. College Board awards academic achievement National Honors in the following categories: rural area/small town, African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous/Native American, and (new in 2024) first-generation students.
Among the top 10% in Indiana for the rural category include Ian Bontrager, Mason Clark (not pictured), Charlotte Duke, Gavin Engle, Madison Grossman, Gracey Heyerly, Asher Kennedy, Kiana Mast, Morgan Riegsecker, Bentley Ryall, Alexzander Sanchez, Lindsey Schwartz (not pictured), Dylan Shrock, and Kamden Yoder.
Among the top 10% in Indiana in the first generation category include Cole Bontrager, Charlotte Duke, Zackary Fry, Olivia Jasso, Kiana Mast, Alexzander Sanchez, Lindsey Schwartz (not pictured), and Kelsie Ward.
Among the top 10% in Indiana in the Hispanic category include Chayenne Diaz and Alexzander Sanchez.
Charlotte Duke was in the top 10% of African American/Black students in Indiana for the College Board’s National Honors Award.

Staff Sergeant Ismael Rodriguez-Torres served 3 ½ years in the U.S. Army and another 11 ½ years in the Indiana National Guard for a total of 14 years of service. He served one tour in Afghanistan, 2 in Iraq, and was sent to help during Hurricane Katrina. He works for Westview as the head custodian at Westview Junior-Senior High School.
Rich Bender served in the U.S. Air Force from 1989-1993. He now teaches College Credit Intro to Engineering Design, Intro to Agriculture Food and Natural Resources, Business Math, Principles of Industry 4.0 and Digital Design, and Robotics Design and Innovation at Westview Jr-Sr High School.



National Honor Society is collecting items for the Clothes and Food Basket of LaGrange County. Collection will take place during home room from November 11-16. Top High School and Top Junior High Home Room classes will receive a treat. Please see the attached images for what to bring.



Parents of 7th and 8th grade students - Don't forget that Junior High Parent Shadow day is coming up on November 14th. Congratulations to Noah Bontrager for placing 2nd at the State meet today in Terre Haute with a time of 14:51.46. Not only did he come in 2nd in the state, he beat his own school record by 8 seconds.
Noah's time will place him on the all-time leader board for 5K Top Times at the Lavern Gibson course. According to IHSAA, the top times before today's race were as follows:
